Apple iPhone benefits over Android devices

We consider the plus points of an Apple device over Android's army of phones

Apple and Android continue to dominate the smartphone market. Samsung has led the fight against Apple with its range of Galaxy devices, while HTC and Sony also offer support to the Android army.

One area where Apple has struggled to fight back against Android is price, with the firm refusing to release budget devices to target the mid-market. Even the 8GB iPhone 5C version released this week costs a significant £429.

However, price has never been an area where Apple has tried to compete and instead its devices have plenty of other key features and selling points.

So, after listing our top 10 Android devices earlier this month, we have put together the top 10 areas where we think Apple has the edge on Android. Let us know if you agree or disagree in the comments box below.

10. Quick and easy to use

apple-ios-7-searchWhile learning how to use any new piece of kit can take some time, even the most confused tech user can master an iPhone in a short while. The layout is simple, with everything given a clear symbol and name, such as Settings or Camera.

It's easy to add email accounts and change key settings too. Compare this with the confusing widgets and icons layout of Android – which can vary from one phone to the next as firms load their bloatware and software tweaks – and Apple definitely has the edge.

The fact the interface is the same on iPads too only adds to the ease of use that makes Apple so popular.

9. Lots of high-quality peripherals

A Swiss Army knife with the Linux penguin logoSince smartphones first appeared on the scene, gadget companies have worked to create new add-ons to expand their functionality. Interestingly, despite boasting a bigger market share than Apple, the peripherals market has tended to be more focused on iPhones than Android handsets.

This is because, being an open platform, there is no uniformity within the Android ecosystem regarding key factors, such as the size of devices or the software version they run. As a result creating a peripheral for an Android phone isn't as easy or lucrative for the gadget maker as it would be for them to do it on an iPhone, because its dimensions and software are strictly controlled by Apple.

As a result, the iPhone is a far more solid choice for users looking to pimp their smartphones.

8. Sensible screen sizes

In fact some have become so comically large that watching someone make a phone call on them almost resembles a scene from old comedy show Trigger Happy TV. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is 5.7in for example.

By contrast the iPhone remains a normal-sized phone that fits easily in your jacket of trouser pocket without creating an unfortunate bulge, while also being comfortable to hold while making calls or writing text messages.

Some claim the iPhone is too small for enjoying video or web browsing, but most iPhone owners would probably dispute this. It seems clear that Apple’s design gurus, led by Sir Jony Ive, are more than happy to stick with a sensible 4in display.

7. Still the best-looking phones on the market

In fact, the designs are so good that Ive received a knighthoodfor his work. And who are we to argue with the Queen?

This is not to say devices from firms such as Samsung, Sony or HTC do not have good design too, but the benchmark against which they are all judged remains the iPhone, and Apple seems unlikely to lose this position of authority anytime soon. Just so long as the next iPhone is not rhombus shaped.

6. Clear point of contact for support from Apple
IPad users in an apple store have another reason to choose Apple's customer service and technical support for an iPhone. If you are having problems with your iPhone - with the installation of an email account or music on your smartphone - employees of the Genius Bar of Apple will show you how. Just book the appointment at a local apple store, and specialists with blue-shirts will make their tech advice free of charge.
Apart from this, Apple also offers one year warranty on its devices for many issues, so if it is the worst then it can be fixed or changed for free. It does not include all issues but offers a clear point of contact, your phone is defective.
If not, then Apple Career +, is an insurance plan specifically for the iPhone, which may have to sign up for hardware coverage, software support and technical support to provide direct access to Apple's experts.
5. Continuous user experience keeps users happy
The Apple iPhone 5 features 4G and 4in screens. Apple has set standards on its mobile devices, which is user experience, and the firm has clearly said that if it is not broken, then you should not fix it. Since its first iPhone back in 2007, its iOS operating system has changed slightly.
In fact, when Apple had shown its platform in iOS 7 last year, it got mixed responses from customers, many people either changed or hated.
Recently Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, is a point-inspiring home at the CEBIT conference in Hanover, Germany, who had argued that Apple's products are already very good to improve on them, and many customers like Product stability.
He said, "My favorite car has always been Mercedes, and they have lived so much for many years. I like stability," he suggested that the latest crop of iPhone devices did not have much innovation on the show. Clearly millions of users around the world agree with this sentiment.
4. All apps you may ever need
At Apple iPhone 5C hands in early 2014, Apple announced that in 2013 the App Store had spent $ 10.2 million, because the demand for iOS applications does not show any signs of slowing down. Obviously, the place for the app is iOS IOS
Almost all major apps launch before moving on to Android, like wine, instagram, and even our very own Wax 3 tablet app. This is because developers know that the best place to test the success of the app is the iOS platform, where charging some money can be a bad thing.
Also, because Apple integrates hardware and software performance of the iPhone, applications can take full advantage of the capabilities on offer. It's something that can be struggling to provide some mid-level Android phones.
3. Easy integration with other Apple devices
Apple MacBook Pro Retina: For people already running a MacBook or iPad, an Apple Apple is a clear smartphone choice for deeper integration.
For example, Mac owners will be able to easily sync content on their laptops - such as documents, photos or music - with their iPhone, without having to manually do so if they use any Android or Windows Phone device However, users have to download themselves annoying software suites, such as Samsung Keys, before transferring content.
Windows laptop users with iPhones will also see the benefits, because Icloud is also supported on Microsoft's PC operating system.
IPad owners may see the biggest benefit of using an iPhone, switching to the automatic app downloads, sets the application installed on the tablet to automatically download it on the iPhone. Other content - such as iMessages, and notifications - will be automatically synced to both iDevices
What's more, iCloud is extremely easy to install. Just turn it on, enter your apple id, and you're good to go
2. Smooth operating system upgrades
Apple iOS 7.0.3 Update PageOnadize is largely broken. In the last summer, Research has researched over 12,000 different platforms, while the old 2.3 gingerbread versions are still found on 19% Android devices.
According to the latest data, the latest KitKat upgrade is considered to be the best version of the platform, used only by 2.5 percent of Android devices.
On the contrary, the iOS update cycle and method of Apple is almost unchanged: The latest iOS 7 system proves how the firm is achieving the vast majority of its users in the same version of its platform.
At least 83 percent of the devices now run iOS 7, since at least the release of a year ago. Updates like recent iOS 7.1 updates are available to almost all consumers at the same time, and are installed quickly.
